According to the methodological issues set out at Thucydides I 22,1 the speeches in his text arerestored by the author, not mere rhetorical exercises. Thucydides writes them to reproduce thedeep and core of willing and political ideas of the orators. So, the speeches show Thucydides’true interpretation of deeds and war. He thought to find out the truth, but his truth is only arelative one.
