Reconsidering the author’s 1999 edition of Alcaeus’ fragments, the paper offers the following suggestions: 1) the similarity between Alc. fr. 61,12 and Pind. O. 8,87 points to Pindar having Alcaeus’ poem in mind and alluding to it; 2) there are cogent reasons for considering προΐδην as the only right reading in fr. 249,6; 3) ἀχόλω (fr. 348,2) is commonly misinterpreted as coming from common Greek ἄχολος; 4) Alcaeus and Sappho were rivals and that may account for Sappho avoiding metrical forms used by Alcaeus.
