The article analyses the relationships between the Greek version of the Life of Hilarion written by Symeon the Metaphrast in the 10th century (BHG 755) and one of its pre-metaphrastic sources, namely Version II (BHG 753), a text datable to the 7th century which is likely to be the redaction followed by the Metaphrast in re-elaborating the earlier text.
